This will be the seventh consecutive year that local Philadelphia agencies Digitas Health LifeBrands and Publicis Health Media are closing their doors for a day and spending thousands of dollars to give back to the community. For the past six years, over 300 employees have gathered to physically transform and beautify local public schools. This year, the agencies will be partnering with Liberty USO to pack 500 backpacks full of school supplies for the children of local military families. The activities are part of the annual Community Service Day, an event that’s deeply ingrained in the culture of the agencies.
Digitas Health LifeBrands and Publicis Health Media are also planning and hosting an elaborate carnival day for the families. The agencies will be pulling out all the stops for a day of family fun including a bouncy house/obstacle course, pony rides, a dunk tank, face painting, balloon artist, various carnival games, a live DJ, and plenty of carnival food.
“The USO is the conduit by which Americans can show their support to the military,” says Joseph Brooks, Liberty USO President & CEO. “As a non-profit we simply could not provide the programs and services our military requires without the support of innovative corporate citizens like Digitas Health and Publicis Health Media.”
“We’re delighted to be teaming up with the USO this year,” says Alaina Megill, HR Generalist, and one of the event coordinators. “Many of the USO families are single-income families that have been moved around a lot so they often don’t have a built in support system of extended family and friends. We hope the backpack donations and the carnival will help these families feel loved, celebrated and supported.”
