Top Reasons to Move to Philly in 2016

Philadelphia – the cradle of liberty, the City of Brotherly Love, the city where the hitchhiking robot met his tragic demise, the city that inspired this video of an epic battle between Benjamin Franklin and a giant cheesesteak.

Are you considering a relocation in the near future? Well, put Philadelphia on the top of your list. Here are just a few reasons to move to Philadelphia this year:

#1: It was just named one of 10 “cities techies should consider moving to in 2016” by The Huffington Post. Yes! No joke. Philly is home to a vibrant and growing tech scene, and with heavyweight health giants like Blue Cross Blue Shield and Penn Medicine investing in the city, tons of health startups are looking to call Philadelphia home. Philly is also headquarters to DreamIT Ventures, ranked by Forbes as one of the top 10 business accelerators in the world. Also, the City of Philadelphia Department of Commerce and the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation collaborate on  StartUp PHL, a “forward thinking initiative inspired by the infusion of entrepreneurial talent.”

“More and more entrepreneurs are finding that real business advantages are available in cities with a low cost of living, great community support, and a devotion to innovation,” says Yuval Yarden, Program Director, Philly Startup Leaders. “Philadelphia is an obvious choice and we’re seeing an influx of startups in Philadelphia as a result of this ‘what’s good for business’ thinking. “

#2: It’s a hub of culture and creativity. Philadelphia is home to world-class museums including The Barnes Foundation, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, Rodin Museum, and The Franklin Institute, just to name a few. There are also some incredible art schools here: Tyler School of Art, Moore College of Art & Design, and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts immediately come to mind. All of this adds up to a lively creative community of writers, artists, and designers.

#3: Food. Need I say more? This past December, Philadelphia beat out New York and Chicago to place at number 6 on The Washington Post’s “10 Best Food Cities in America.” And the Philadelphia food scene is about so much more than the cheesesteak. A two minute walk from our Philadelphia office will find you at the heart of Reading Terminal Market where you can get, among other things, a Dinic’s roast pork sandwich (named best sandwich in America by The Travel Channel). Other Philly favorites include wings from Moriarty’s, and the Root Beer Float from Franklin’s Fountain.

Being named to the Top 10 by Huffington Post is great, and well-deserved, but we want to continuously push Philly higher on this list, attract great talent to the region, and build great connected health solutions around the globe. We hope you’ll join us!
